PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Kordon ECO-LOGS were specially researched and developed to provide natural appearing and safe counterparts to natural driftwood, logs, and branches found in the waterways of the world. While completely natural objects might be preferred, these materials usually necessitate a lengthy curing process which still may create problems in water clarity, acidity, and leaching of tannins. Eco-logs are nontoxic and can be utilized in place of these natural materials. |
DESCRIPTIONS

The Log resembles the midsection of a small hollow, water-worn log. Measuring l0 inches long and 2 inches in central diameter, its inviting hollow interior will give comfort to the shy or nocturnal fish. The Log also can be used to construct terraces and banks, just as its real counterpart plays a similar role in shaping the environment. The Log has a number of openings, creating an ideal retreat for fish needing a refuge from aggressive neighbors. It also provides a lair for shy animals which need a place of safety before they feel comfortable.

The Branch is long, thin, and twiggy, an ideal form It successfully simulates the tangle of extensive root systems or piles of submerged branches, when several or more are combined. The main stem of the Branch measures l5 inches long and 2 inches in central diameter. Since branch tangles are the natural habitat for many species of fish and other aquatic animals, the Branch is a safe and natural appearing alternative. Although one Branch can be used to suggest this habitat, several Branches piled together (and the Log and Stump can be added as well) form an impressive network which becomes a home for many species.

The Stump is an adaptation of a decayed, hollow tree trunk with broken off roots and hollow interior penetrated by knot holes. Standing approximately 7 inches tall by 3 inches in central diameter, the Stump provides an excellent retreat for larger aquarium fishes. It can also be used to camouflage heaters, siphons stems, or air lines. Partially buried, the Stump can serve as a pot for aquatic plants, protecting their root system from digging fish. These three types of versatile logs can provide many habitat combinations in aquaria which are unequaled by other available forms, such as plastic plants, and various aquarium decorations.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The Eco-Logs are ready to use, although a precautionary rinse before placing them in aquarium water is recommended. All of the Eco-Logs can be used singly or in combinations in small to large aquaria. After algae start to grow on them they are impossible to tell from the real thing.
Logs and Branches form ready-made refuges for fishes that like narrow crevices near the substrate, such as catfishes, loaches, dwarf cichlids, spiny eels, small barbs and characins. They can be laid down flat, hollow side down, or intermingled in thickets. Stumps on their side form perfect habitats for African rift lake cichlids and larger aquarium fishes that like to hover in, or swim through, hollow branches or small cavernous spaces. The design is so ideal that many fish prefer and utilize the Stump as a lair and spawning site over other objects in the aquarium.
Often care in arranging Eco-Logs in aquaria to suit the fish will clearly be seen to reduce stress and calm fish down. By giving fish access to protective refuges, fish are given a better chance for survival in enclosed conditions. By using coordinated aquascaping with Logs, Branches, and Stumps, the aquarium can be made as realistic as a natural-looking stream environment.
